The Cello Player
After his father's sinister death, Homayoun, a newly-appointed music professor from Glasgow, returns to Iran, the country of his birth. In an emotional journey, in which he uncovers clandestine family secrets, he becomes involved in a series of twists, which lead him to a final confrontation with his father's murderer.
Tower of Silence
This tragic picture of a vulture waiting by a starving child stirred me to write this poem. The Tower of Silence Tower is a circular, raised structure built by members of the ancient Zoroastrian religion, where they lay their deceased for a ceremonial departure to the next world, by exposing them to vultures.
Spiritual Healing according to Sufi Tradition
The sufi tradition believes that all healing therapies should be directed at the heart.
Using spiritual practices, herbs, gemstones, fragrance oils, diet, meditation, breathing exercises, and specific spiritual energy points the soul is restored to good health, and ultimately any emotional imbalances are cured.
With all of these practices, it is the focus on the heart that remains paramount. With the belief that if your heart is healed, your emotions too will heal.
